DTSC is now the lead agency in the toxic investigation and clean up of the GP Mill site.
NCA, the Sierra Club, Jody Sparks from Toxics Assessment Group and many other local citizens worked hard for this change because we feel that DTSC is much better equiped to do a thorough job with the site given DTSC's experience and expertise in dealing with soil based pollution. The Regional Water Board will continue as a resource trustee concerning water born pollution on the site. We are also optomistic that NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration) and CA Fish and Game will be more active in exploring possible ocean pollution under the guidance of DTSC.

DTSC has a community input process and welcomes your comments and concerns. If you have information related to toxics on the site or at offsite locations such as fly ash disposal, please contact Ed Gillera, Project Manager. The Department accepts anonymous communication if you wish to protect your identity.
