•GP BUILDINGS AND SITE

Here is what we were told by GP representatives:
The original old mill was torn about seven years ago. GP applied for a permit that will become effective as of May 2003 to demolish and/or auction-move buildings, equipment and parts. All of the trees from the nursery have been sold. GP apparently has had some meeting about the site with representatives of the city of Fort Bragg government and management as well as having invited 12-15 consultants about development to an initial meeting about one year ago with a follow-up meeting in February 2003. The purpose of these meetings, we were told, was to begin to select a consultant knowlegable about the field of development.. We have invited GP representation and participation in NCA meetings from the very start and to date, GP has chosen not to take that opportunity to communicate with the community at large. We hope that more direct communication will evolve over time.

We understand that the City Plan makes it incumbent upon GP to sell to developers, individuals and organizations that meet and reflect the viable needs and wishes of the local citizenry. We have heard via the grapevine that GP is pleased the community is showing so much interest since their past experience has been that the community of a closed mill is not so expressive.

Our work, we the people, can be vital, direct and effective!
